The Door Is Open
You can bring hope and healing to the most vulnerable people in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.
The Door is Open provides critical assistance to the most vulnerable in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver and relies on people like you to be able to carry out this work.
Open for over 40 years, it is located across from Oppenheimer Park, an area known for the highest concentration of the poor in all of Canada. Over 300 meals are served on average per day which allow for relationships and trust to be built such that further support can be extended. Other services offered include a women’s brunch, professional counselling, housing and employment referrals, and grief support. The Door is Open is co-managed by Sr. Chita Torres and Frances Cabahug. Together with their staff and volunteers the door is open every day.
By becoming a financial supporter of The Door is Open, you help open the doors to more guests who are in most need of assistance.
