Hope Thrives Here

A Message from Archbishop Smith

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Since arriving in Vancouver earlier this year, I have witnessed the incredible generosity of our local Church. One initiative that has especially stood out to me is Project Advance.

Over the past 40 years, you have raised more than $240 million to support regional and parish projects. What makes Project Advance extraordinary is you. Through your sacrificial giving, you have made way for God to do what might otherwise seem impossible.

This year’s theme, Hope Thrives Here, beautifully reflects what I have seen firsthand in Vancouver:

  • Hope that helps your parish grow,
  • Hope that reaches our young people,
  • Hope that shares Jesus with others,
  • Hope that reaches out to the poor and the forgotten.

Your gift to Project Advance turns this hope into a reality. Most of your donation to Project Advance stays right in your parish, supporting a project chosen by your pastor. Whether it’s maintaining buildings or expanding ministries, your gift will make a direct and visible difference in the community where you worship.

I invite you prayerfully to consider making a gift to Project Advance this year. May your pledge be sacrificial and offered in gratitude for the blessings God has entrusted to you.

Together, may we, under grace, continue to be a Church where hope thrives.

With deep gratitude for your generosity, I assure you of my prayers.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Archbishop Smith

Frequently Asked Questions

Each parish in the Archdiocese is assessed a financial goal for Project Advance. Once that goal has been reached, all additional gifts (less the parish’s share of expenses) is returned to the parish for its own use. For example, parishes have used the rebate to fund upgrades to the parish, expand their buildings, replace equipment, etc. To date, over $100 million dollars has been rebated to our parishes. The Project Advance rebate is not subject to the cathedraticum tax.
